We cordially invite you to the seminar about making movies from the Film Studies Group (FSG), which takes place at 18h on 28/11/2013, at room C5 – Goethe Institute, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street. The “Personal Experience with Director S. Eisenstein” ( the 3rd section) will be managed by Phạm Mai Phương.
Eisenstein has a good standing in the cinema history as well as he was a leading figure in Soviet Montage. This section will be about the montage of Eisenstein through the personal experiences of the author, and montages of his films as well as other materials will be shown at the program.
The Film Study Group (FSG) from Hanoi DOCLAB had discussions around two topics: “Film and Reality” and “Film and Discourse”. For the first topic, the participants will share their ideas about the link between reality and its presentation in films and furthermore, about many aspects of reality in films.
With the second topic, we want to discuss a few short films depicting the subject of reality, and from there we can have a base idea of discourse films. This will demonstrate how the discourse, the depiction of reality can bring much values to a film.
A short clip of “Film and Reality” by Phùng Hà Thanh is attached to give you the basic, main content of the discussions ( This is not the full presentation of the discussions)
(Note: The FSG programs takes place once every 6 weeks. The next program is planned to be on 9/1/2014, focusing on the theme ” Films and Genders”)
