Film screening about the women „Woman´s Cinema”
As a part of the exhibition „A Woman´s View”
Woman´s Cinema| Films of the woman filmmakers |23.03.2014 |6.30 pm
Venue | Goethe-Institut, 56-58 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi
To round off the exhibition “A Woman’s View”, the Goethe-Institut presents eight select short films produced by filmmakers from Hanoi Doclab.
Women’s Cinema is a term often convenient for communication. It easily refers to Feminism, Minority, Otherness, etc., which have been widely circulated in film communities. This, perhaps, presents somewhat a disadvantage to the short films in this volume as they can be ensconced into fluent and smooth expressions exchanged among art and film communities. Additionally, such a gendered topography could limit the experiences possibly emerging from the films. We hope that the term Women’s Cinema will not be an obstacle to your journey through a diversity of visual worlds. You might encounter feminine or feminist elements or not and, hopefully, visual performances beyond gendered framing as well.
The following short films will be presented by the filmmakers themselves. Subsequently, there will be a discussion and later on the Goethe-Institut kindly invites all filmmakers, the artists of the exhibition “A Woman’s View” and the audience to a leaving party.
